Senior Project
The Senior Project is a major paper undertaken by all Chicano Studies majors in their senior year. The student works under the supervision of a faculty member in the Department. The subject of the paper should be a topic in the student's group concentration, and of a quality which provides a capstone to the student's work at the University. It should be a culmination, expressing knowledge of a field of inquiry and, in the words of a recent CLA Committee on Undergraduate Education, "…demonstrate the ability to think critically and creatively, to gather, recognize and interpret data, to solve problems, and to interpret and communicate findings." All students must complete a senior project. The CLA senior project requirement may be satisfied by CHIC 5993. The specific topic and format must be approved by the undergraduate faculty adviser. The paper should be of substantial length (20 - 30 pages) and conform to official style requirements for scholarly papers.
